PREPARATION FOR SENIOR
1. Purchase The Patroller's
Manual, 24th ed., NSPS, 1997 from NSP
http://www.nsp.org/nsp2002/edu_template.asp?mode=edu_materials&pub=501
(recommended, not required). Read Chapter 18, Senior Program.
2. Complete the Senior Candidate Application and obtain your
Patrol Director's signature
3. Fill out the Patroller Information section of the Activity
Record for Senior Core and Elective Components
4. Demonstrate the basic OEC skills listed on the Basic Skills
Performance Check-off and have them signed off by a
Senior OEC Instructor.
5. Complete 2 written scenarios from the written scenario
section of Appendix G of the Ski Patroller's Manual and 1 written senior level
scenario created by the senior candidate.
6. Successfully lead 6 senior level (Degree of Difficulty >5)
in a practice situation with a Senior Level Instructor.
7. Senior Emergency Management Evaluation:
a. Sign up
for a Senior Evaluation
b. Bring completed paperwork
c. Bring personal first aid equipment
d. Unless notified you will be
required to bring a Senior Judge and a qualified patient
8. Ski/Snowboarding Evaluation
a. Attend training clinics
b. Sign up for a Senior Evaluation
(You may attend a Senior Evaluation clinic for Senior Evaluation or as a clinic)
c. Bring completed paperwork
9. Toboggan Handling Evaluation
a. Attend training clinics
b. Sign up for a Senior Evaluation
(You may attend a Senior Evaluation clinic for Senior Evaluation or as a clinic)
